Our students like to stay active. Here are just a few of the extra activities we offer:
4th and 5th Grade Choir
Parkside Kids Chorus is open to the 4th and 5th grade students of Parkside. Students will work on vocal, choral, and performance skills and will have the opportunity to perform in community events as a group. The group will combine with Westside and Southside for several performances throughout the school year.
Drama Club
Parkside Drama Club is open to the 4th and 5th grade students of Parkside. This group will work together to put on a short musical involving singing, dancing, and acting. We will work on basic theater terminology and use our creative skills to build and create sets and costumes.
Green Team
The Green Team members have been given a room or two at our school to take care of. On Tuesdays, they will dump and sort all the recycling papers during their lunch recess. They will then take turns dropping off the paper at the recycle center every Wednesday during lunch recess.
Marathon
Each year, Parkside students have the opportunity to participate in the Marathon. Over the year, the students run laps at recess. Those who meet the required number of laps run the final mile in the spring at the middle school track. Family members are encouraged to attend or participate in the running of the last mile. Students receive a medal on their final lap. This enables the students to reach a goal and to stay physically fit!
Pride Club
The Pride Club is offered to 3rd through 5th-grade students. This club is responsible for initiating kind acts around the school. They put together welcome and good-bye bags for students. They write letters to the residents at the retirement home. They also work together to build a positive culture.
Parkside Leadership Team (PLT)
Only fifth-grade students make up this team. They get to create birthday cards for the Rocky Mountain Manor birthdays. Last year, they went over and celebrated with the citizens once a month. Due to COVID, they can’t, but they still send over birthday cards every month.
Recess Warriors
The Recess Warriors will be sorted and assigned to help care for Parkside's recess equipment. They also learn and plan new games for recess and teach their peers.
Student Council
Through the student council, students exercise leadership opportunities as they work with school staff and administration to identify ways to improve their school and help the community. Each room elects a room representative in the fall to serve as a student council member. Second through fifth-grade students elect fifth-grade students to serve as student council officers.
Robotics Club
The Robotics Club is offered to 4th and 5th-grade students. These students will work with partners to build and program their robots to complete a series of challenges. The challenges become increasingly difficult, and students will use problem-solving skills to make the robots successful.
Giving Opportunities
Community outreach is vital to us here at Parkside. Please take the opportunity to learn ways you can contribute to our community.
Students must keep their grades up to participate in extracurricular activities. Please see our student handbook for more information.
