The Park #1 Virtual Academy is now accepting applications for the Spring of 2025 for grades K–12 until January 10, 2025. Applications will be reviewed on a weekly basis starting November 18, 2024 until January 10, 2025. The Park #1 Virtual Academy staff will review the applications to ensure students enrolling in our academy will be successful in a virtual environment. Space is very limited for 2nd semester. Parents will be notified via phone and/or email of the application committee's decision before moving forward with the enrollment process. Applications received after the enrollment period ends must have a principal or other district administrator referral in order to be considered.
Park #1 Virtual Academy is available to students in grades K–12 and is FREE to those students who reside in Park, Big Horn, Hot Springs, and Washakie counties. The courses offered are certified by the Wyoming Department of Education as well as supported by Wyoming certified teachers. Park #1 Virtual Academy will offer a comprehensive slate of courses, which will allow students to graduate from Park County School District #1 with a diploma.
Park #1 Virtual Academy is partnering with Acellus (K–5) and Edgenuity Imagine Learning (6–12) for our virtual programming. Both platforms, Acellus and Edgenuity, combine technology and learning science to help students master content, learning more effectively (greater mastery), and efficiently (in less time). Backed by scientific research, each platform delivers online instruction, compliant with the latest standards, through high-definition video lessons made more engaging with multimedia and animation. Each lesson is carefully designed to connect with previously learned knowledge like interlocking building blocks.
As students progress through each course, Park #1 Virtual Academy educators record and monitor every response. Each platform offers a parent portal monitoring tool that allows parents to check on their child's progress in real-time, view your child's grades on assessments and exams, and see how often your child signs in and the total time spent watching lessons or working on problems. Along with monitoring progress, parents will also be expected to help ensure that their child is meeting the weekly virtual attendance requirements. This shared access enables you to collaborate with your school community and contribute to your child's learning experience.
Park #1 Virtual Academy is offered for students interested in being full-time virtual students. We will provide students with a Chromebook and internet, if needed, in order to access their classes. Park #1 Virtual Academy will have limited seats available, so apply as soon as the application is available. We are excited to partner with students and parents who are looking for a new way of learning in a virtual environment. Join us in this new journey.
