Scholarship Opportunity

The Powell Schools Foundation is a non-profit corporation organized to encourage the financial support of alumni, friends, faculty, and staff. The Foundation’s goal is to perpetuate excellence in education and to benefit students. Several other named scholarships honoring or memorializing donors are also awarded by the foundation.

A $1,000 scholarship ($500 per semester) will be awarded to a Powell High School graduate for their sophomore, junior, senior or post-graduate year in college.

Application Period: March 05, 2026 - April 15, 2026 Eligibility: PHS graduates for their 2nd year or beyond in college with a 3.0 GPA

All information requested below must be provided to be considered. A clear and concise essay is preferred and should not exceed two pages. The award will be made directly to the college or university after notification of enrollment. Final selection of recipients is made by the Powell Schools Foundation Board of Directors. Selectors will look for distinction of intellect and character as evidenced both by their scholastic attainments and by their other activities and achievements. Preference will be given to candidates who display a potential to make a significant contribution to their community. Selectors will also look for strong motivation and purposeful intent.

1. Provide your name, mailing address, phone numbers and e-mail address. You may also include a photograph of yourself along with some personal comments/thought about your experience at Powell High School.

2. Provide information about the college or university you are attending, including contact information for the admissions office. State your major and minor (if applicable) and your anticipated graduation date. Discuss your program of study and your academic goals. Attach an up-to-date transcript and proof that you are a full time student (no less than 12 hours per semester). Note: You must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. You are responsible to send an official copy of first semester grades to the Powell Schools Foundation in order to receive the second semester disbursement.

3. Describe extracurricular activities, including volunteer work and employment. You may include special achievements, honors, and/or recognition. Include unique education experiences (e.g. special projects), career plans, leadership experience, and community involvement.

4. Discuss the current sources of college funding you have received, or expect to receive, including scholarships/awards or grants, parental involvement, employment and/or loans.
